About this tool

The Celsius scale defines 0° as the freezing point of water and 100° as its boiling point at sea level. It is the temperature scale used by the vast majority of the world, in weather reports, cooking and science.

The Fahrenheit scale was proposed by physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit in 1724, with water freezing at 32° and boiling at 212°. It remains the primary scale used in the United States for weather, cooking and body temperature.

This converter is especially useful when reading a US weather forecast, oven temperature or recipe, or a fever reading, and needing the Celsius equivalent used almost everywhere else.
